1. License Grant and Permitted Use
FlowDevs LLC grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use Epicycle on compatible iOS, iPadOS, and Android devices that you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial, educational, and leisure purposes.
Epicycle is distributed completely free of charge. There are no paid upgrades, subscriptions, locked features, in-app purchases, or advertisements. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, redistribute, sublicense, or sell the application without prior written consent from FlowDevs LLC.
2. Vital Safety Guidelines
Epicycle calculates and illustrates the modeled position of the Sun for educational awareness. NEVER look directly at the Sun with the naked eye, and never point optical instruments (telescopes, binoculars, camera viewfinders) at the Sun. Looking at the Sun can cause instantaneous, permanent eye damage and irreversible blindness.
Outdoor Night-Time Awareness: When observing the night sky, stargazers should always remain aware of their physical surroundings. Watch for uneven ground, cliffs, water bodies, traffic, tripping hazards, and private property boundaries. Use appropriate night-vision lighting (red light) to preserve dark adaptation.
Child Supervision: Epicycle is designed to be family-safe and appropriate for learners of all ages. Children should always be supervised by an adult when exploring outdoors at night.
3. Astronomical Modeling Disclaimer
Epicycle provides computational models of celestial mechanics, star positions, and constellation boundaries based on astronomical algorithms. While FlowDevs strives for high educational accuracy, celestial positions are simulated estimates influenced by local topography, atmospheric refraction, sensor calibration, and magnetic deviations.
Not for Navigation: Epicycle is strictly an educational resource. Do not use Epicycle as a primary or sole navigational tool for marine navigation, aviation, wilderness orienteering, emergency operations, or any safety-critical activity.
4. Platform Permissions & Device Requirements
Certain features, such as the Live Sky augmented view, require device hardware capabilities including camera access, compass (magnetometer), and location services. These permissions are strictly optional. Educational lesson cards, constellation studies, and the offline sky map function completely without granting camera or location access.

5. Intellectual Property Rights
All rights, title, and interest in and to Epicycle—including but not limited to the Epicycle name, logo, visual design, custom artwork, constellation diagrams, text content, and underlying source code—are owned by FlowDevs LLC or its licensors and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.
6. External Charitable Links
Epicycle is dedicated to the memory of Gül Ateş. This website provides an optional link to No Stomach For Cancer (nostomachforcancer.org). FlowDevs LLC does not process charitable donations, does not solicit donations within the mobile app, and receives no fees or compensation from contributions made to independent charitable organizations.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability
EPICYCLE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR ACCURACY.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL FLOWDEVS LLC, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APPLICATION OR ANY OBSERVATIONAL ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED THEREWITH.
8. Platform Store Terms (Apple App Store & Google Play)
These terms are entered into between you and FlowDevs LLC, not with Apple Inc. or Google LLC. Apple and Google are not responsible for the application, its content, support, or maintenance. Apple and its subsidiaries, as well as Google and its subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
